The stunning beauty of ESO

Poeple criticising The Elder Scrolls Online graphism are obviously not knowing what they are talking about. It might not be as beautiful as a modded Skyrim, and we may have seen better looking characters in a game like Tera Online. True. However, the beauty of The Elder Scrolls Online is ...mesmerising.Anyone denying it is not objective.

The lightning effect ; the weather changes ; the smallest details, may it be a ragged tapestry in a house, or the variety of vegetation bording the road ; the atmospheric sound and the music itself ; the NPC populating countrysides and cities, buzy with their own lifes ; everything is created to render the most immersive world you can experience in a MMORPG.

When I play The Elder Scrolls Online, I'm not sitting in front of my computer anymore. I'm travelling in Tamriel. I smell the perfume of the earth after the rain. I feel the warmth of the sunrays and the freshness of the breeze on my skin. I'm gone, far away, and exploring this universe become my main quest.

I wanted to share those feelings with the future players. Most of videos you will find on internet at this day, will show you how to PVP, build your character, how the combat is working, or how to use that and that item. I wanted to show you how beautiful this game is and how amazing it will be to simply walk arround, enjoy the landscapes, and let yourself dream that you are really there.

I choose to start this serie with Daggerfall, as it's the least popular faction. Maybe this video will arrise more interest for the Covenant. I was, like everyone else, not really tempted by the King Emeric alliance before to actually experiment it. Since I've played through, I realised how beautiful and peacefull this zone was.

Daggerfall is a classical high fantasy themed landscape with strong influence in celtic legends and atmosphere. The weather changes very often, from bright and sunny days, to a soft rain, or thunderstorms. This drastically change the mood and add an amazing feel of immersion.

I tried to capture those changes of feels as good as I could. I hope you will enjoy the calm and peacefulness of this video. I had an immense pleasure to record it and edit it.

Even on low settings the graphics are great. I have a 4 year old laptop. They did really well graphics wise.

It's nice to see some appreciation threads instead of constant infighting/QQ'ing over every little detail. You're absolutely right. This is a beautiful game and I feel really lucky to be playing it. :)

It's a very pretty MMO.  Admiring the scenery in Cyrodiil has gotten me in trouble a couple times.

In most games the CGI dresses up the game; in this game, the game is its own CGI.

No disappointments or let downs visually at ALL.

It's really well optimized, it plays well on my old Asus Ultrabook but is stunning on my desktop (with Geforce GTX780Ti)

I totally empathize with this post. Over the weekend, while playing the beta, on several occasions I called my significant other into the room to see the game and would say things like "Look at how pretty this is. Isn't this a beautiful day?"

Tihs game is so pretty, it's ruined all other games for me. GW2 is perhaps the only thing that comes close to the impressiveness of ESO.....but that game is overlorded by the MMO-killer, NCSoft.

A good friend of mine whom I gave the buddy pass last beta to said "the graphics are okay, I guess. It looks like they're trying too hard to make it look real, and it just falls flat."

I wanted to reach through my computer and smack him. This is someone that plays NEVERWINTER......and they're not impressed with these graphics?? Everything about this game blows that one out of the water. Combat, crafting, travel, the fact that this game is sub based and that one is F2P trash.....I just don't get it. Kinda like a neutered dog. Meh, to each their own, I guess. Nobody I know likes this game, so I'll be starting all over again when it comes to the arpees and the questings.

Yup, I love the graphics in ESO, the realism, the grittiness. But I can't agree that the character models looked better in Tera. They were all so cutesy. Seriously all the faces for the females looked like they were 12 years old. Not to mention you had to wear high heels and no matter what kind of armor you put on you like like a stripper....

Nice video Elloa. The best video showing the visuals of this game tbh. You changed the FOV?

About the topic. I'm an amateur 3D artist and I just wanna say that ESO's graphics (technically speaking) are really good. Artistically is all about personal taste, you know; colour ranges, textures style, models and items scales and designs, etc... , but ffs, nobody can't say, knowing what he is talking about, that ESO's graphics are bad.

My favourite engine's feature is the lighting system that they are using.

I really don't think the graphics are the issue, many of the animations leave something to be desired, but it's not released yet, so I remain hopeful my Char will not sprint looking like he has Harrington Rod implants.

Animations are part of the technical part of all of this but we were just talking about "graphics" in this case. I'm not an expert 3d animator (most of my work modelling, texturing, rendering..) but I did some animations in the past and I know that they can improve them easy if they want, but right now this is not a high priority for them. And I'm agree with the point that some animations needs some work.
