Tamriel Foundry

Public Service Announcement - Please use Post Reporting!

Hey everyone, I have noticed a few people complaining about a general deterioration of posting quality on Tamriel Foundry. Some of the common complaints (which I also recognize as happening) involve:

  • Trolling by individuals who have lost interest in ESObut not yet moved on from the TF community.
  • Uninformative or time-wasting topics in theorycrafting forums.
  • Overabundance of guild recruiting (bumping / spamming).

I also think it's important for us to admit that the frequency of moderation has perhaps declined a bit since before the game launched. This was always going to be a natural and expected outcome as a result of the game actually being playable. At heart, we are all fans of the game itself, and care most about spending time in Tamriel, rather than policing the TF forums.

Posts that reduce the quality of the TF forums, but are not moderated, are not left untouched as a result of lax site policies or us not caring, we simply don't have time to check all the posts which are made on Tamriel Foundry. I wanted to really urge all members of the TF communtiy who care about the long-term health of this site and it's community to more frequently take advantage of the post reporting feature which is attached to every post on the TF site.

The post report button looks like this (), and is incredibly helpful in directing moderator attention towards a thread that is getting out of hand, or a user which is damaging the flow of discussion. My utmost thanks to those of you who DO use this feature, thanks for doing your part to keep the TF site clean!

    Thank you for your PSA.

I began to realize a sense of dread visiting here, as the level of civility has diminished in the thread postings.

I considered posting something about it, but I was not certain it would be proper for me to do so.

I am glad you have stepped forward to address this issue as it exemplifies both your leadership and concern for this site.

I do not frequently log in when visiting, so I was nigh oblivious of the triangular report button.

I shall do my part and responsibly put it to use.

    Thanks again for your attentions,

    Igmund

Bumping this because I don't trust the recent decline in reports.

    Relax, I’m only being serious.

We've had a few issues with the post reporting system in the recent past, which is why we accepted the explicit @-ing of moderators to direct their attention towards problematic posts. Those issues are solved now and we would like people to rely on the report button to attract our attention and refrain from tagging a selection of moderators in the future, in accordance with TF's code of conduct.

I couldn't see a post report button so I assumed there wasn't one until you bumped this and it turns out the tiny hazard sign is it...
