Reasoning:

1. Why Skoria? Why ilambris?

Both Sets deal great damage, however Skoria is BiS for fire/fire and Ilambris does best on a support setup.

2. Why Swallow Soul?

For sustain. To sustain Force Pulse we need to run the support setup.

3. Why not 75 in thaum on the fire/fire?

Magblade is the only magicka class (not sure about wardens) that should not have 75 points into Thaumaturge. Why not you ask? Because it is a giant dps loss. When you run a no CP analysis on your rotation your dots deal only around 33% of your dps (+/- 5), so the CP calculator suggests a 28 point value into Thaumaturge and a whole lot more into Master at Arms. By taking nearly 50 points out of other trees to accommodate off balance CP you are severely lowering your dps, since most of it cones from direct damage attacks.

4. Why Infused trait mainbar and not vMA?

The enchant and the trait are simply too good to pass up and average 5-6% of your overall DPS. By running vMA back bar you can still buff your staff damage AND take advantage of the front bar enchant/trait to the fullest.

5. Why Burning Spellweave on the fire/fire setup?

When testing Julianos, Scathing, Mother's Sorrow and Burning Spellweave, I found Julianos and Burning Spellweave gave me the best results. While the two are definitely close, Burning Spellweave edges it out due to increased burning effect and spell damage.

6. Why moondancer for the 4 set?

You can use either moondancer OR Infal...I just happen to have Moondancer in infused.

7. Why Scathing Mage on the support setup?

Because we are using Force Pulse, which yields a high Scathing uptime.

I'm using War Maiden Juli Groth 5-5-1 . Veil of Blades tooltip with just dual stat blue food buff 4379 over 17.8 sec that's about 79000. Now buff that with major sorcery and merciless then add in the crit damage as you can see that ultimate is hitting insane numbers and this build isn't maxed yet. The only non magic based attack i'm running is Elemental Blockade. So merciless twisting path swallow soul cripple and Impale are all magic based. War Maiden/Juli maybe not BIS but it is viable for a Nightblade I think War Maiden was created for Nightblades. This is with Apprentice of course that's stacking a lot of native spell damage. I'm going to swap out Groth for Kena i'm at 45268 max magic so I can afford to. I might actually post this build for second tier level players who don't have VMA weapons or trials gear. I say second tier only because not all my gear is gold but all the enchantments are honestly I was looking at Gilliam the Rogues Magicka Nightblade pve Video and my numbers are either very close equal or better based on what he was using as buff and his damage crits on hit and tooltip. Also i'm at 62.9 percent crit so I didn't sacrifice much there at all. Yes I do run Ice Comet instead of Veil at times. Tooltip on Ice Comet with just food buff 18530 initial hit then 5370 every 1 second for 11.8 seconds now add major sorcery merciless and tANK debuff plus crit damage that's a huge number. Obviously I'm using the destroy ult inconjunction with veil/meteor.

Your guides are very impressive! I know you haven't had a chance to do this one yet, but I was wondering if you think BSW and Scathing will still be BiS for each of the setups?

One last question. Is it full damage BSW and support acuity, or are we talking 5 BSW 5 acuity as a full damage setup? If that's the case, would it be better to have the front bar staff be acuity or BSW? I'm assuming back bar vma flame.

Front bar acuity and yeah thats full damage

I like 5x acuity + 5x master architect too. Plus 1+ kena... very strong...

Bsw if i'm forced to stay ranged all the time (vas f. E.).
