Foundry Tactical Combat 0.60

FTC Version 0.6 is now available! FTC Version 0.6 is now available!

Hey ESO friends, I'm really excited to reach the conclusion of a big development effort to update and evolve the Foundry Tactical Combat addon, enabling it to continue serving as an excellent and comprehensive combat interface for The Elder Scrolls Online. It's been quite a while since the last major update for FTC, and I'd like to start by thanking everyone for their support and patience. I'm really excited with the changes that I have made, and I hope that you give the new FTC a try.

This new version features extensive functional and aesthetic overhauling of existing FTC components as well as the addition of several new and much requested features. Some of the key highlights of this new release include redesigned scrolling combat text, more accurate buff tracking, small group and large group frames, a revamped damage report, and countless new aesthetic customization options!

Download The Foundry Tactical Combat Addon

Installation Instructions

To install Foundry Tactical Combat follow these steps. FTC is also supported by Minion, an automated ESO addon management utility.

  1. Download FTC_Current.zip to a location of your choosing.
  2. Extract the .zip archive into your ESO addons folder found in My Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/Addons/ for Windows users, or Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live/Addons. for OS X.
  3. You should now have a folder inside Addons named "FoundryTacticalCombat" which contains the addon files.
  4. Launch The Elder Scrolls Online. FTC should be automatically enabled. If not, go to the Add-Ons section of the game menu and make sure that the box beside Foundry Tactical Combat is checked.
  5. Access the FTC configuration settings by navigating in-game to Settings -> Add-Ons -> FTC, or by simply typing "/ftc" into chat.

FTC 0.60 Changes

General Changes

  • Thorough aesthetic overhaul of the entire addon.
  • Complete performance sweep of every FTC component to ensure efficient memory usage.
  • Complete French and German localization of FTC components thanks to the excellent work of Einherjar Mooneh TehMagnus and Rial.
  • Significantly improved customization of FTC components with a far more flexible addon settings menu.
  • Switched to use account-wide saved variables; your FTC configurations will now apply to all the characters on your ESO account automatically.

Unit Frames

  • Added extensive aesthetic options for modifying the size color font and style of unit frames.
  • Added visualizations for healing and damage-over-time effects.

Added configurable indicator on the target frame denoting execute range.

  • Improved detection rules for damage shielding to provide as accurate as possible an assessment of your character's defenses. Certain fundamental bugs in the ESO API will still cause shielding to be incorrectly reported.
  • Introduce optional small group frame for groups of four or fewer members.
  • Introduce optional raid frame for large groups this raid frame can also be used for small groups by disabling the small group frame but keeping raid frames enabled.

Buff Tracking

  • Added multiple buff format options for each buffs container allowing fine-tuning of buff tracking display.
  • Added options for rendering buffs in list format displaying buff names in addition to tiled icons.
  • New customization options for modifying the apperance of tracked buffs.
  • Include many new buffs and debuffs which were not previously tracked by the addon.

Combat Log

  • Introduce new FTC Combat Log component. This customizable window will retain a printed record of damage healing and other significant combat events.
  • Allow FTC Combat Log to alternate with ESO chat or be detached independently.
  • Add optional keybinding for quickly toggling display of the FTC Combat Log.

Scrolling Combat Text

  • Significantly improve the aesthetics and efficiency of the scrolling combat text (SCT) component.
  • Add optional icons for most of the recognized sources of damage in the game.
  • Add many customization options for configuring the appearance of scrolling combat text.
  • Added a number of new SCT alerts for important combat conditions like crowd control effects and DoT cleansing.

Combat Stats

  • Introduce separate combat statistics component which tracks and details your character's performance in combat.
  • Vastly improve the information content in the FTC Damage Report breaking down combat events by target and providing insight into key abilities.
  • Enable linking to chat for specific targets instead of the entire encounter.

Advanced Hotbar

  • Improve accuracy of current consumable (potion) cooldown timer.
  • Add a visual glow behind your Ultimate ability indicating when you are currently gaining Ultimate through combat.

FTC 0.60 Known Issues

Unit Frames

  • An ongoing bug in the ESO API continues to cause the incorrect reporting of shielding, this can be particularly prevalent in Cyrodiil. Myself and other addon authors are in contact with ZeniMax about this issue which will hopefully be resolve in an upcoming patch.

Combat Log

  • Some words and phrases reported in the new FTC Combat Log are not yet localized for French and German client versions.

Scrolling Combat Text

  • Some abilities do not have unique icons assigned. If you find an ability which should have a unique icon but is recieving the default damage icon, please contact @Atropos with details.

I found a small bug. It look like I keep getting an overlay of "player buff 1" or "player buff 2" along with the actual buff name when I looked at targeted character's buffs (and debuffs?).

If I keep looking back and forth sometimes it goes away. It's very hard to see a pattern. But running around Deshan some are clean some are overlaid. I have Buffs ascending and debuffs descending. I haven't noticed it on particular buffs. It is common on lycanthropy and increase all stats, but those are also very common buffs. I also occasionally get no name and just the icon. Its rare though.

EDIT: A relog fixed it so far.

EDIT2: After changing the target buffs to horizontal tiles it came back. Relogging fixed it again. I guess the "player buff x" tend to hang around after you change a menu setting and untill you relog (or reload ui?)

One last very minor thing. When I leave the FTC addon menu the combat log always pops up. I'm not sure if its delay, but sometimes I have to hit the hotkey a few times to make it show/hide.

EDIT: It may have been being in the chat menu after accidentally pressing the post damage hotkey, not 100% sure yet.

EDIT2: It is getting stuck sometimes. I had to hit the damage report hotkey to get it to read the combat log hotkey again.

Hi everyone, thanks for the awesome feedback! I'll try to get touch on everything:

Is it possible to add progress bar option to buff tracker? This feature unique for “Srendarr Buff Tracker” for now, and that only one reason why im still using it.

Yeah, I've seen that requested by a few folks. I will definitely consider it for a future release.

Fnoptik wrote on June 1, 2015

Also there is a bug for Summon Shades (and both Morph – Dark Shades and Shadow Image), its duration always 17 seconds, Dark Veil passive effect (+4 seconds to all Shadow abilities) not shown.

    I'll look into correcting that!

in the last version, the little “riding stamina bar” was showing, even when the “mini experience bar” was disabled. In the current version though, these two bars are linked in the settings menu – either both are displayed, or none.

I prefered the old functionality (the mini XP bar, to me, is just screen-clutter – forcing me to move the buff tracker further down. The riding stamina bar on the other hand provides vital info – and I don’t need to see lots of buffs while riding so don’t mind the partial overlap)

I agree completely that the horse/werewolf/siege bar needs to be shown. Disabling the XP bar should only disable the XP bar. I'll fix it.

Also, are there still problems with having FTC track the Evil Hunter buff (beyond its initial duration)?

Unfortunately it is not possible. There is no way to tell if the target you killed is categorized as undead or daedra and the API does not report your evil hunter duration directly.

Dymence wrote on June 1, 2015

Looking really nice. I’ve run into a bug with liquid lightning though. If you just cast it to refresh it, FTC will never track it as a debuff. But when I start spamming it like a mad man (4-5 times in a row) it does track it.

EDIT: Flame reach does not track either.

Thanks for the reports, I'll look into these two specifically.

Davadin wrote on June 1, 2015

But that “FTC Combat Log component”… how can I get that?

By default, the combat log alternates with the default ESO chat window, so if you minimize the chat, the combat log will take it's place. If you want to have the combat log separate from chat, you can turn off the "Alternate With Chat" option in the FTC settings menu. This will let you have your combat log visible alongside chat. There is also a hotkey you can bind to toggle the appearance of the combat log.

TehMagnus wrote on June 1, 2015

Also noticed, when I use Mutagen, I get “10[x2] Mutagen Dummy” in the combat cloud. Wondering if this is normal.

This is normal, it's a healing effect reported by the API ... although perhaps not ideal. Maybe I should add the Mutagen Dummy to the list of effects that I filter out.

I found a small bug. It look like I keep getting an overlay of “player buff 1″ or “player buff 2″ along with the actual buff name when I looked at targeted character’s buffs (and debuffs?).

Yep, I know this bug, and I know the cause. I'm going to focus on trying to fix it this week. It's proving to be real tricky.

hi so I just recently updated the the newest full release version, and am unable to see crit attacks. Before I believe they would show up with a s mall asterisk or a different font color, has this been changed or is there an option in the settings to enable it? Was hunting for awhile and couldn't find it. But than kyou for an amazing add on! It has really helped me learn more about the math behind my g ear and get better at the game :D

Hey, I have used FTC for a long time I cant remember when I didnt. The new changes are great, my one gripe is the notification to block or roll dodge seems to be the graphic from Zeni, a pic of the mouse and click the left key. Can this be changed to just text? If it can I cant find it. Otherwise solid update thanks for doing it.

Noooooooooo.......... where's the numbers for the regular non-custom unit frame? I always prefer (and used to) the default frames, BUT if I have FTC, it will add the number and percentage in it. Which is double awesome! But now I'm stuck to using the custom frames since I do *need* to see the numbers (not so much percentage, thats for PvE raid bosses only I suppose).

Combat stat is a little different too... I need to customize that more. The breakdown per person is nice tho.

Combat log is nice, but since I rarely manually hide the chat box (is there an auto-hide?), by default, I would never seen it. I had to separate into a different windows because I do like to see both and I'm not sure how the auto-alternate works... Maybe i need to play with settings more.

Oh and also the buff/debuff bar seems a little buggy too... need more testing but i think some player buff is missing. Or not quite where they are or something. Will test more.

Hi Slayeon, in the new FTC critical hits (and heals) are displayed with a larger font than non-crticals. Perhaps after using the new version for a while your eyes will get used to noticing the difference. Personally I find it easy to tell them apart, but after using it for a while if you still feel that the difference is not enough you can change line 133 in FoundryTacticalCombat/sct/functions.lua:

    local size  = ( damage.crit ) and FTC.Vars.SCTFontSize + 4 or FTC.Vars.SCTFontSize

Changing the "4" to a larger number will make the difference in size between crits and non-crits more significant.

I'm not 100% positive what you are referring to, but if it's what I think it is, those are game tutorials added by ESO itself, not something added by FTC. Can you post a screenshot of what you mean so that I can confirm?

I've been trying to remove this feature from FTC for a while, and every time I try so many people complain that I have to bring it back! I will continue to think about this issue. I do not want to support any enhancements to the default unit frames with FTC, it's not really the purpose of the addon. There are lots of great addons out there that enhance the default frames (Azurah for example). I would rather focus on making the custom FTC frames as good as possible. I have gotten a lot of complaints that this feature was removed, however, so I will continue thinking about it and possibly bring this back.

Let me know if you find anything that you think is missing. Some buffs are filtered out deliberately because they do not add any meaningful information.

A wonderfull addon and is getting even better.

    So many thanks.

But I think I have found a bug: sometimes when using equilibrium (mages guild skill line) or one of his morph, reported max magicka get lower and lower whenever I use this skill (not always, it has a random behavior).

I know is only a graphical glitch because even at 0 (reported by the addon) magicka I can still cast magicka based spell.

I'd like to know also if you'll implement indicators for HoT and DoT on party frames.

All other addons I used that have implemented this feature always failed to be reliable (to test this, get a group togheter and cast mutagen several times and you'll see they sometime fail to change status of a player with a regen on. LUI, AUI, Healers Group Frame all show this wrong behavior)

I was wondering something else. Since the addon now shows individual dps aswell over a longer battle, and can post individual DPS aswell, could you make it so that the 'All targets' DPS is also posted as 'All targets'? The way it is now, if you're doing the serpent for example and you want to post DPS, posting 'All targets' will post it under the name 'The Serpent' and so will the serpent's individual dps tab. Basically you have no way of knowing if what someone posts is with or without AOE, if that makes sense.

This add-on looks great.  Would you guys be able to do something like this for the PS4?   Do you know if there already is something like this (yours or not) in development?

….. if you’re not having fun, you’re doing it wrong.

Hey psychaos, thanks for the feedback! I will definitely look into the equilibrium bug. Regarding group HoT/DoT visualizations, a large reason why I decided NOT to do this was because I found this data to be very unreliably reported by the API. While in principal it would be nice to see a true HoT/DoT status on group mates (or better yet, their actual buffs and debuffs) I felt it would be better to not report anything than to report the incorrect information.

So, right now it is posting the "all targets" damage and DPS, but it is labeling it with the name of the most damaged enemy in the encounter. I wanted to do this otherwise every report would say "All Targets" and you could not tell one fight from another. I agree, though that there needs to be a visual difference in chat between total and single-target. The change I'm planning will label all targets as "The Serpent (All Targets) - ...." while linking just the single target DPS will be shown as "The Serpent - ... ". Hopefully this proposed fix sounds good to you?

Is there no way to use the 'Numeric Overlay' on 'Target Frame' with the default target frame like with the previous FTC?

I can have the numeric overlay on the default player frame(s) no problem, just not default target frame. Feels like I'm missing something out but I've already exhausted all possible configuration issues fiddling with the settings.
