ESO Player Housing

Player housing is a feature that is seldom included in MMO's.  the only ones i have played thus far that have housing are LOTRO and runescape.  Usually housing is left out because the development team does not know how to incorporate it, but if housing was a top priority, i feel like development could find a way to fit it in.  Since the ability to own a house has been included (and enjoyed) in both Oblivion and Skyrim, do you think it will be included in TESO? it could be tricky incorperate it into the "mega-server", since every player would not be able to own a house in the space given in one server.

If you think it will be included, how do you think it will be incorperated? do you think there will be neighborhoods where players can buy plots and build on them, or do you think there is another way that ZM will put it into the game?

EDIT: It has been confirmed that there is no player or guild housing at launch.

maybe different abodes for the different classes. maybe for the dragoknight a hollowed out dragon, for the templar a mini castle, for the sorcerer maybe a realm of oblivion and for the nightblade a underground tunnel system.

@Klaten that would require a massive area to get enough space for everyone's house. And if you want to be able to choose between locations there needs to be axcess land/houses which just means even more land space wasted and empty.

I would prefer if the door (to a city house) works like a portal and you can choose to enter your own house or another person's house. Or if it's a house out in the countryside (like the homesteads in hearthfire) then let the portal be the door in a fence surrounding the house.

How would it take up space if its instanced?

Hmm... am more-or-less ignorant of the technical details... but if non-instanced housing would be a nightmare on a megaserver (one imagines the entire landscape would soon come to resemble a Brazilian favela), and instanced housing might be a job-of-work for the developers and perhaps occasionally jarring ("Hey friend/baby... wanna pop into my house?"... "Huh... but that's my house!"); would it not be easier to have housing piggyback on the existing fast-travel system. Perhaps when you needed to chill you could just "travel", via a loadscreen, to your, by invitation a friends, or your guilds "house". If this were simply an interior chosen from a set of templates you could fill with bric-a-brac and your personal crap, one imagines it could be implemented fairly easily.

If anything were possible though... this one'll have a caravan, up on bricks, in the middle of the desert.

Because you would want an entire neighbourhood perhaps?

Nor do I see you saying anything about it being instanced.

Well it wont be in the game from what we know... though I hope that we will be able to hire rooms in Taverns.

LotRO's housing is instanced, I implied in my idea that TESO's housing should be instanced as well. Those who have played LotRO would easily have figured that out. Also, it doesn't matter how large an area is if its in an instance. You could put an entire world in another instance and it wouldn't intrude or take up space in the main world because its completely separate in its own plain of existence.

I would just like to see guild halls implemented :)

This is a feature I just CANNOT WAIT FOR. The more customization and personalization in an  MMO, the better! Player housing and guild halls would be fantastic, and I was so happy to hear that housing will be released after launch. Hopefully Guild Halls as well?

Honestly, I would rather they focus dev resources on guild halls over individual player houses.

I think they can take some of what they have done in Hearthfire and use that for these guild halls. The Halls should be large, but built up over time by utilizing resources gathered by guild members (and by resources I am referring to mostly coin). There should be some sort of trophy/war room where trophies and achievements of guild achievements can be showcased to every member, and especially future members.

There should be crafting/gathering facilities for guild crafters to be able to make their wares. These facilities should be able to be improved by additional investment. What I mean is that say you start off with a Forge. Invest some gold and maybe it turns into a Forge (Level 2), which provides you a slightly faster crafting time, or perhaps a slightly higher chance to get a critical result.

There should be a warehouse that acts as the guild bank that can be expanded over time using gold.

I absolutely love the details you included. Physical achievement trophies for display? FANTASTIC idea.

    Using guild resources? YES.

Runescape is pretty underrated. It had some cool things going for it, example the housing. Plus, it's free.

I would hardly call RuneScape free, although it does feature F2P gameplay you just don't get anything out of it.

I wish there would be like a player housing city that would be so cool but it would have to be soooo big!!

It would be cool if your guild had a building where they could chill, store items, craft stuff, etc. However, it would definitely have to be something like Runescape, where you went to a complete different location (maybe not a portal in ESO, not very lore friendly..)

Why not make multiple cities then. While that is still n immersion breaker for me, I think that it is a little better than every person living in the same city.

I started playing quite recently. I found this ESO housing guide: https://steemit.com/elder/@snfpartner/elder-scrolls-online-housing-come-inside-make-yourself-at-home I think it might be useful. The information in it is very helpful.
