Update 2019-08-21: Updated for Elsweyr 5.1.6

There are two parts to this guide; as you learn the fights you can move more to the dps build. I currently run a mixture depending on trials vs 4 man. This build is a fun build, it is not designed for elite vet groups but rather solo or pug ques where you never know what you are going to get and holding block just doesn't cut it.

Gear (Tank) 15k-20k Single target AOE is crazy you can push 100k

Target Stats (with full CP)

  • Get to around 30K health
  • When buffed with Volatile Armour, you should be around (~25K spell/phys resist)
  • Rest in Magicka, get somewhere just above 20K
  • You need to hit just around 2000 Magicka Recovery. If you feel comfortable with less, switch enchantments on Jewels out with either spell damage or block cost reduction

Bar Setup

Front

  • Piece Armor - Switch with Inner Rage if you need range taunts
  • Eruption - DOT and opener for trash pulls
  • Unrelenting Grip - chain them and burn them!
  • Burning Talons - DOT. Better than a taunt for trash, just keep them rooted and inside your kill radius (when you play the build, you will know what I mean)
  • Volatile Armour - Procs our sets and reduces damage taken
  • War horn (Barrier if you are still low on magicka regen)

Back Bar

  • Unstable Wall of Elements (Storms) - Good chance to keep them off balanced which improves our damage by 10%
  • Flames of Oblivion - DOT
  • Engulfing Flames - DOT
  • Burning Embers - DOT and self heal, spam this when low on health.
  • Molten Whip - If cash in order you will be at 3x which increases weapon and spell damage.
  • Dragonknight Standard - DOT

How to play This build

This build is based on very strong synergies between dragonknight DOT (which we have a lot of) and the gear. You will be pleased to know that:

  • Burning Talon, Eruption, Engulfing Flames, Flames of Oblivion, Burning Embers and Overwhelming Surge can all trigger Grothdar and Baharas
  • The DOT tick from Bahrahas curse can proc Grothdar (and vice versa)
  • Getting hit while buffed with Volatile Armour can set off the chain reaction too
  • For tricky trash (Big xikvin guys in vWGT, Atronach in vICP) apply the occasional taunt on priority targets

With this in mind, here is how you fight trash mobs

  • Place Eruption on mobs and charge into the AoE area
  • Chain in the ranged guys, drop talons to keep them in place.
  • Buff up with Volatile Armour (Spikes of Fire to all mobs around you)
  • Bar Swap
  • Drop your Wall after getting a good position (Don't go out of range, you want to be close)
  • Weaken them with Engulfing Flames
  • Watch the fireworks as you proc flames, lightning and deadric runes non stop
  • Kill off any stragglers by just walking over to them.

For questing, just run straight towards your quest marker, ignoring all monsters that might chase you - turn around when you have 10-20 mobs and apply the above.

For bosses:

  • Maintain Volatile Armor and Flames of Oblivion at all times
  • Use Burning Embers for self heals
  • Make sure Bahrahas is up at all times for that constant 1K heal - note that you can proc Bahrahas with a shield bash
  • Switch to back bar and start the dps rotation (Stop this rotation and switch to front bar if you need to block a heavy attack!!) LA>Wall>LA>Flames of Oblivion>LA>Engulfing Flames>LA>Burning Embers>LA>3x Whip Whip and LA weave 4 times then bar swap> Taunt restart and rebuff from front bar as needed. (Volatile Armor)
  • Weave heavy attacks on front bar if you are low on Stam

A big part of playing this build is knowing when to block the old build used a lot of shielding but in new DLC vet content if you don't block you will get one-shot. If you don't know the fights, stay on your front bar more than your back bar; in non vet content kick back and enjoy. This is a work in progress, I've mained this build for a while but there is always room for improvement.
