[Clarion Call] The Elder Scrolls Uncovered - Video Series

This thread compiles a number of interesting videos and articles by Clarion Call, a dedicated Elder Scrolls Online guild.

My ideal system is one that allows your skills to grow as you craft. Once you hit max level, you'll be able to craft the best items like normal MMOs, but the more you craft them, you have a chance to learn a slightly higher version of it, and by this I mean the stats could increase by 1 points, nothing major but the more you craft the better they become. Not every time does the items become better, it would be a rare chance, but once it happens you'll be able to craft the item with those improved stats, and the chance for them to improve again.

There is a interesting article about crafting, and how ESO can go about selling peoples crafts and other items.

Check out the full article here at ccguild.ca

What are your thoughts on the crafting system or the ideas on how to sell our items?

Altair, Garbrac, Glandic, and Gregorin sit down in mumble and discuss the Combat System in Elder Scrolls Online.

They discuss Topics regarding the Finesse System, the "No Cast Bar" system, the "Soft Synergies" system.

One of the biggest debates discussed was how will Housing be launched.

Thank you for the feedback @Dezman.  After being part of this discussion I am torn between the Pay Structure and the Purchase to Play.

Companies like ArenaNet make it hard to go back to liking the idea of Pay to Play, because they have proven that you don't need a Sub based game in order to keep content new and fresh...

But in my the back of my head I have that sense of false satisfaction where I think if I pay for it, they'll do more with the game as they are making a lot of money from it..

So I don't know which one I would like to see, but I can say for sure, no matter the system I'll be playing ESO :D

To be honest, if the game is good enough, I have absolutely no problem shelling out up to 30$ a month to play the game. A dollar a day for most likely ~15 hours a week of entertainment minimum? Can't get that kind of value in many places.

Also, it feels like I am contributing more to the company if I have a sub fee, which I like.

This is all of course if it is a game worthy of my money hehe.

I liked the phasing discussion the most, actually let it go through the whole video while playing league. The thing that concerns me the most is how it is going to handle when you have friends in multiple "phases" of the same area of you but they've been paired with different people, will you be able to automatically switch to them whenever? That could pose a problem with mineral gathering.

I also can't wait to see all the crazy build combos in PvP  and how they will work :D

I love the combo system, I really enjoyed them in GW2.  It sucks that GW2 did not put a lot of focus around the combos as much as ESO is claiming to.  In GW2 you have combos very similar to ESO but they aren't utilized as much unless you are in a guild group with a voice application to help coordinate them a bit better because visually they are hard to see.

The Housing we continued the discussion after we stopped recording.. It got rather heated but enjoyable. It will be interesting to see how it plays out though.

From what ZOS has said regarding the phases, you will "always" be in the phase your guildies are in, I don't know about Friends though.  But yes I'm super excited about housing, and I will be sad (might even cry a little) if they release it as single phased housing, I really want their to be neighbors, I want that sense of community.

    Hey @Thrawler!

Love that you guys are contributing to the greater ESO community. :)  I am going to merge this thread with your other thread and reference that one as [Clarion Call Responds] Discussing ESO to consolidate all discussion for your videos into a single thread.

    Thanks!

(Sorry about the quality had an issue when rendering will be resolved for next video - video being played in Star Wars: The Old Republic a strat video Clarion Call made while we were raiding 16man Hardmode Due to no new ESO content videos to display I had to pick something :()

Garbrac helps to shed some light on the Megaserver tech that ZOS will be using for Elder Scrolls Online.

    Megaservers -

When you log in, you are connected to the Mega Server no need to select a server.

    New MMO Standard

All players are on one megaserver but in separate "worlds"

These "Worlds" are not Static, the game can create new ones, or merge "worlds" based on demand

A way to understand this new type of technology is if you are playing in an area that can support 1000 people and during peak times there are over 5000 people on, the game will create 5 different "worlds" of the area to allow people to continue on without any lag or disruption of service. The game also monitors population and will merge "worlds" should they fall below the minimum, now the numbers provided are not actual numbers they are being used to help understand the technology.

The system is intelligent enough to know to place you in the world your guild members are on and your friends.

This is a intriguing thing to me, if the game knows to merge you with your guild members and friends, will it not run into issues of people not being merged with their friends? The idea; Six Degrees of separation where no one is more than 6 steps away from anyone in the world. So if I am with my friend on a world, is he with his other friend who might not be my friend?

There are huge amount of players that don't know anyone and aren't part of  a guild. It could potentially cause problems if you have long string of guild alliances where guildleaders all are part of a second guild and that could cause the string to crack.

Just want to apologize as last night stream was canceled due to some RL events that came up with a few members.. We'll be back online this week.

Feel free to follow me on twitter to know when we're going Live again.

Looks like we'll be streaming games every day for hours in a few weeks until ESO Beta comes out.

Maybe you guys would only be streaming MMOs...but maybe you could stream an "Aldmeri" playthrough of Skyrim's new Dragonborn DLC when that comes out?

@Thrawler At the latest, since the Xbox 360 will get it on December 4th, I think we're looking at "sometime in January".

At least, it should be January 4th, but I kinda wish it would be released earlier, on the same date as the 360...

Ya same. I don't like console gaming, never can get used to the controller.  So I would love it if they released it on the same date
