Speaking of, did you get a chance to check the links I posted after you called me a liar? >.>

Do you find the ability to single click change your entire set-up instantly to be a little far reaching? Especially with the information available thanks to FTC? Or does the fact that it is possible mean that ZOS understood what people would do with the information provided and are fine with the add-on’s capabilities as implied by developers and supporters of FTC itself?

The one click change gear is Wykkyd’s tools and not a function of FTC.

I never said it was. I said it was available and that when used in conjunction with FTC would be pretty scary.

So should we not have addons because people might also use illegal third party programs? Or will that just mean that the same people will still use illegal third party programs and we will just not have addons?

@Yevon I would make the argument that the lines aren’t so cut and dry. I’m an MMO vet, I make MMOs for a living, they’re one of my biggest passions in life. I’m of the opinion that we should encourage Zenimax to maintain a greater level of control over the exposed functionality available to addon authors. It seems like there are other people also sharing that opinion. Simply because we have the ability to do something doesn’t always mean we should, and I think we should hold ourselves accountable.

You mean YOU don’t think they should and with all due respect, I could care less what YOU want. If information is made available it is the responsibility of the mod community to make it available, after all that’s why the make it available through the API. If you are indeed what you say you are I should not have to expain this lol. Leave what should and should not be available up to the delvs, not a vocal minority of entitled gamers.

I’d be far more inclined to agree with you if there weren’t a nearly 100 page thread on the subject. We are the consumers of this product, and have a right to voice concerns and desires to see the game travel in a direction we enjoy. Just as they’ve given us some tools to tailor the game experience to something we enjoy, we should also voice our opinions as to weather we think something is too much or too little for that matter. Debate is healthy and helps inform developers on what their consumers would like.

    yep this,

also why does everyone think they are intitled to know what skills I am using, you cant have anything up your sleeve with this. just goes to show how far the mmorpg community has gone downhill so far, I DONT MIND THE ADDONS ABOUT YOUR CHAR BUT THE SECOUND YOU START SEEING MY SKILL AND BUFFS AND SPECIALS AT A GLANCE THEN THIS IS WHERE THE MOD GOES TO FAR,

See this is where you start sounding like the elitest you are claiming other to be. This is not about entitled, this is about what information people should have. Not to be rude but you keep presenting yourself as a skilled PvP player and yet you are awefully scared of someone having a bit of info (that you would have on them btw) on your character. Why is that? Do you think that info may level the playing field? I’m asking honestly because through the course of our discussion your 2+2 seems to adding to 5 and that’s confusing.

if this makes me sound like an elitist then it comes off different from how I wanted it, and im not scared, I just dont think it is right for people to know others skills, that includes me, I dont want to see others skills, and i dont want others to see mine, if we could see eachothers skills say bye bye to the elimit of surprise that makes this pvp so fun…

Oh I have no issues with your view, as I’ve said previously I can respect it, although its misguided imo. My problem is when you belittle those that see things differently. I’m sure it’s not intentional which is why I pointed it out :) It’s difficult to maintain decorum in a topic we are so passionate about.

is it so unreasonable to keep ones skills to them selves so pvp has some mystery? thats the only part of this or any add on i dont like…

I am not for knowing whom to gank because they have low stamina/magicka.  But all this is in ZOS’ hands and if its okay to use, I’ll have to use it.  I will not give the pro-use crowd the satisfaction.  The whole if you don’t like, don’t use it thing is something they’re counting on.  Nah I’m gonna target you and chase you down and know you can’t do anything about it.  I’ll make sure I pick my battles just like you to maximize my chance of winning.  I feel bad for all you bad players out there.  You’re f*cked.

were not just talking about ftc but all add on that do things like this… the thread is calledthis kind of add on cannot be allowednot ftc cannot be allowed lol

They have 2 pretty different functions so using them in conjunction is more miss than hit. You also have to be out of combat to change gear and weapons around and right now, you are in combat for a long time. I agree with you two though that I feel this should be a function (wykkyd’s swap) that ZoS adds in to save gear sets and be able to swap them when need be, depending on how the developers want their game to function. And the developers right now don’t have anything against FTC or else it would not have been around for 6 months.

As I said, I don’t mind all of the features the add-on has, but displaying information about other players that you could NEVER get without using add-ons like this feels A LOT like cheating to me.

It can feel however you like, but it is not so please keep baseless accusations out of this. I have said I can respect your opinion (it’s misguided but I’m ok with that) but this is information that sanctioned by ZOS so it is clearly not cheating.

once again just because its allowed does that make it right?(dont mean to belittle you lol just curious of your opinion)

Your skills are unseeable until you start casting them el oh el. You can’t tell what 5 abilities your enemy has slotted, his ultimate and his other bar. Yet alone his gear, his enchants, what weapon effect and ETC. Theres a lot of information you don’t have from every player until you face them on the fields of Cyrodiil. Id come up with a better argument than that.

after going hidden you stay undetected for 30 secs and you can swap gear…even if they are 3 feet away from you…

I don’t think it’s unreasonable I just don’t agree. Players will not know your load outs they will only know when you casting, your buffs, and perhaps if you have one of the diseases, but all of these have visual clues in game already and the addon merely presents that information differently.

    @pawkette

Unserstand this mod would not have much use in previous TES games.  This is an MMO so I expect more types of mods.  Integrity is maintained in two manners. 1. The game permits mods and it would be odd to basically have a different game for PVP and PVE.

Adding it to the default UI or not permitting it is completely opposite to the direction te game has gone.   Basically, an extremely late argument.  The Devs wanted a basic UI as part of the game and granted access to the game information so mod developers could develope mods so we can choose how our UI would be.   This discussion leading to choice was held long ago. Heck, they may allow a Cryodiil instance that locks it but mods are not going to be removed from the game or PVP wholesale.

Pancakes are a lie. There are only Waffles.

Thread limit reached, so it will now be closed.

Technical explanation: If you look at the numbers of the recent posts (the ones in the top right corner), sometimes they all show #3 and if you click on them, you aren’t linked to that specific post, but the first page. It’s a bug of our forum software, which is why we usually lock threads after they’ve reached this point, as has this thread now. Feel free to create a new thread to continue discussing the capabilities of ESO’s Add-On API. Remember to keep further discussion friendly and appropriate.
