It’s just the result of the gear, 64 attribute points into stamina, and blue max stamina/health food.

I’m leveling a stamblade now in hopes of paying forward all the frustration I’ve accrued from being ganked so many times. :) This thread is very helpful!

However, the thought of farming or buying sharpened Spriggan daggers makes me (and my coin purse) shudder. I’m wondering about using Viper daggers instead; I also have Viper jewelry. Here are the setups I’m considering:

    • 5 Viper, 5 Alchemist, 3 Agility (Alchemist bow) – this would provide lots of power but lacks any penetration.
    • 5 Viper, 5 Alchemist (body), 1 Kra’gh, 1 Kena (Viper bow for 4 piece or random) – Kra’gh fills in as a substitute for Spriggans.
    • 5 Viper, 5 Spriggan (body), 2 Velidreth (Viper bow for 4 piece or random) – Kra’gh probably overkill, so adding another proc instead to make up for lower WD. Could also do 1 Kena + 1 Veli.

I’m sure there are other combinations. Basically I’m trying to get the most bang for my buck with the least additional grinding required. Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Those all seem like very viable setups. If your focus is maximizing burst I would go with the second option. Alchemist is just too good. However, your third setup would be more versatile for dueling or open world. Check out the builds of Pedro Bear and Kuutsu as well.

I’ve been theorycrafting my pvp builds for a while and one of which is my stamblade.  I have amassed a substantial gear collection but don’t have sharpened spriggans weapons.  What i do have seems even better on paper, Sharpened Twice fanged serpent weapons.  I know you have to build up the penetration with it but how do you think it will stack up against spriggans?  And what would you pair it up with?  I have a ton of options, draugr hulk, automaton, swordsinger, sunderflame, agility, viper…etc.  I’m also a master crafter and can make any craftable options.  I also have a ton of impen monster sets.  I guess i’m struggling with what will work best as i don’t have a ton of pvp experience.  Any suggestions?

I’d say just experiment. If I weren’t using Spriggan’s for this build, I’d probably use Viper, Widowmaker, or Hunding’s Rage.

Which enchantments do you use on your armour? Stamina or maybe prismatics.

Stamina all the way! This build is all about maximizing burst.

Really appreciate this thread… Im in the 260s of CP, dabbling a little in PVP. . . For the most part I get squished in PVP, absent seeing a target around my level and being selective with when to pop out of stealth.

What I’m realizing is: my pve setup is complete garbage for pvp.  Both in terms of skill bars and gear.

That being said, im probably very soon going to focus on building two different armor sets (i.e. for PVP and PVE) to swap back and forth.  The standard seems to be the Clever Alchemist and I can craft that, but was wondering if you’d recommend how impending Homestead will change your build.

Currently I have (for PVE purposes):

5/5 Spriggans – 3 jewelry, head, shoulders (divines which Im thinking I should grind out some impen) * I have one sharpened spriggans sword, which Idk whether to sell for the bookoo $$ or use myself

5/5 Twice Born Star – Chest, Waist, Legs, Hands, Feet (all divines, again a PVE set)

    DW – 2 NMG’s sharpened daggers

    Bow – NMG Bow

I’d guess all things considered should I acquire Clever Alchemist now? Should I wait for post Homestead? I am low level and grinding out Vigor (ya im that new to pvp), but really want to become a bad ass in pvp (especially since im the only of my friends concerned about builds, appropriate attribute allocation, etc).

Appreciate any and all advice, from you guys.  I also am thankful for you sharing your builds and rotations!

That’s an interesting question. As far as I can tell, my build will not change for the next patch. If you have been following Jekyll, Alcast and others, you’re aware that many players are uphappy about how the nerfs to Warhorn and Beast Trap, which will reduce the power of Major and Minor Force, will hurt stamina builds in PvE. However, that doesn’t affect me at all. Another change is that Incapacitating Strike will go from 50 to 70 points. That means I’ll probably have to be more careful about taking on two opponents, but normally it’s not a big deal. I do think I will try to put more skill points into Bow Expert to increase the power of my initial heavy attack. Nine times out ten, Heavy Attack, weapon swap, Ambush, Incapacitating Strike = equals dead. Players simply have no time to react. For my specific tactical approach – bow opener, melee finish, with little regard for whether or not the enemy has light, medium, or heavy armor, moving or stationary – I think Spriggan’s Thorn’s, Clever Alchemist, and Agility jewellery will continue to equal or exceed the cheesiest proc set builds.

Of course, there are different ways to build a high-burst Nightblade, such as builds that focus more on ranged ganking (hard to beat Marksman for this), as well as builds that place a higher priority on survivability and sustain for group and open field play. Check out this recent thread on the official forums in which several NBs detail what they have been running.

One more thing to keep in mind: try to have the Alliance War Assault passive Continuous Attack active as much as possible. Whenever you help capture a keep or resource, you get +10% weapon damage for 10 minutes. Resources are changing hands all the time, so just jump in and help out; and with this build, it’s also relatively easy to solo a resource behind enemy lines and then get away. That’s a huge damage increase, pushing our weapon damage over 5K.

Wow man thanks for the response.  I’m gonna progress my alchemy forward and probably craft a PVP set of Clever Alchemist to supplant TBS for at least PVP purposes where it seems that Weapon Damage>Crit and Crit Damage due to im assuming the meta of running impen gear for survivability.

Clever Alchemist just seems to solve so many of my PVP problems

Probably going to need to do a complete overhaul, as the more I realize there is a significant Dichotomy between PVP Gear/skills/CP versus PVE Gear/skills/CP (should’ve known lol)…  This could be turning into a couple week experiment lasting through the impending Homestead lol.

    Thanks again!

I’m focusing on my stamplar right now, but I don’t anticipate changing anything for pure ganking fun!

I ended up using venomous serpent, it’s a really good set.  And the 1 second cool down is kinda op.

I’m still working on my gank blade but my end result will be 5 piece spriggans body, velidreth, 3 piece ability, master bow and Maelstrom maul.  After doing a bunch of testing, nothing hits harder than spriggans for almost any target.

Just need that master bow… Back to DSA ugh.
