To avoid a thousand little threads that can be resolved with one post and source link, let’s just throw every question might you have in this thread and keep the forums clean for actual dicussions.

    How to use this thread:

    1. Try Google, Tamriel Foundry’s search function or have a look at our Development FAQ before you ask a question. Check the frequently asked questions further down as well. Otherwise we’ll have to answer the same question every other page.
    2. Answer other people’s question only if you you know the answer. Wrong or unclear answers will be removed. Try to provide a source.
    3. This is not a thread for discussion or smalltalk. Anything that isn’t a question, an answer or the opening post will be removed.

Frequently asked questions (posts asking those questions will be deleted)

    • Racial Skills and Boni can be found here http://tamrielfoundry.com/races/
    • Payment Model ESO will be subscription-based.
    • Spears and Crossbows will not be in the game at launch.
    • Dragons will not be in the game ever. Kinda. Don’t expect to see any.

Forgive me if this has been asked before but I can’t find it.

5 Guilds per account. Do the NPC guilds (fighters, mages and later, others) contribute to this total or is that 5 player guilds?

    Thanks.

    Has anyone seen my sweetroll?

Anyone know the base percentage for crafting tempers? We know that Honing Stone will have 20% chance of sucess, and dwarwen oil will have 15%. Will the two followng tempers “Grain Solvent” and “Tempering Alloy” continue with lowering the percentage by 5%, or are there any other values?

How many skill points will we have to spend?

Are skill points shared with crafting and fighting abilities? Or are they separate.

I do not know about how many skillpoints, but A LOT.

    They are shared.

The 5 Guilds per account refers to player guilds only.

I believe there are currently 3-4 NPC guilds in the game, and you can join all of them.  If they applied towards the limit then 5 per player would be far too low.  There is a discussion of this over at http://www.tesof.com/topic-5-guilds.

Thanks very much. I had a feeling that was the case, as you say, it would be far too low otherwise.

    Cheers for the answer.

I’d like to know more about the tempers … do we find them adventuring?

Can we craft them? If so, is this alchemy or provisions?

Or are they only available by extraction. If so, is the resulting temper  purely random?

How much does the Breton racial, “Spell Resistance”, give at level 50?

ESOHead is showing “6” at max rank. Surely this cannot be right?

I don’t think you can craft them, not sure about adventuring, they may drop as seperate items.

I have seen them come from extraction and as a result of the efforts of your hirelings.

Tempers are materials or similar that is used in the Blacksmithing skilline to improve Heavy Armor and axe/sword/mace/dagger weapons to further tiers. At first, when you craft a item, it will be at tier 1(white), by using the temper called “honing stones”  the weapo or armor is improved to tier 2(green), next you can improve to tier 3(blue) with dwarven oil, tier 4(purple) with grain solvemt and lastly to tier 5(gold) with tempering alloy.

Tempers are the name for Blacksmithing, for woodworking, clothing, alchemy, enchanting and provisioning they are called other things.

Tempers can not, what we know right know be crafted in any way, but can be extracted from raw materials, or weapons and armor that matches with the said temper (if I deconstruct a tier 5 weapon I can get the tempering alloy, but not if I deconstruct a tier 1 weapon. Dwarven oil is known to be found in dwarven ruins, and tempers is known to be found in containers througout the world.

Differnet abilities in the blacksmithing skilline improve the chance of getting tempers, and crafting materials overall:

    • Miner Hireling – A hireling delivers blacksmithing materials to you once (or more often when upgraded) per day, including tempers.
    • Metal Extraction – Improves the chance of extracting blacksmithing resources

Remember that tempers have a percent chance of sucess, and if it do not work, the item is destroyed. Honing stones have a 20% chance, dwarven oil has a 15% chance, “grain solvent” and “tempering alloy” percentage is unknown to me, but a guess is 10% and 5%. Luckily, the ability “Temper Expertise” increases the chance of succes. And also, we can use many tempers, making the chance increase, much.

Hope this answers your questions, a little out of the frames.. but you have to live with that ^^

i have only found tempers/upgrade mats by deconning gear and getting, for lack of a better term, a “crit” so I get the temper. Dont always get one, in other words.  (I think tempers are only for blacksmithing? Cant remember at the moment, but do know that each craft has its own chance to upgrade mat. Not sure I saw one for Alchemy(Pots) Enchanting (Runes) or Provisioning (Foods) tho.)

Technically, that does mean you find them by adventuring, by deconning gear you get from killng creatures rather than vendoring them.

These will make the blue/green/other color gear WAY more valuable. For low levels who may be going up in level fast, pretty much prohibitavely so. But, to tell you the truth, I noticed when I was 2 levels above my armor. My death came faster.

(Edit, forgot, you can also find them in container, as a poster above said.)

I do not know.. Seems a little low, but I do not know the calculating formula… Sure it isn’t 6%?

Skill ranks: I, II,III, IV, V, VI One skill point needed to be spent on each level.

Really? I thought it was only three ranks; 2/4/6?

Where do you get that from? :) Active abilities need 1 skill point to acquire initially, and second for the morph. They level up I through IV with use.

You would need 3 skill points to get spell resistance of 6. That is per character level. So 300 at lvl 5.

I was asking more about other pets, hawks, wolf’s, trolls etc. Wondering if we can get them and are they for looks or combat

I’m sure there are other pets than those two, but they *might* be hard to get. And there will probably not be pets for combat, except for the ones summoned by Sorcerers.

EDIT: I very much do not hope to see a big ass troll strolling around behind me, since they might be bigger than me. We will probably see smaller pets.
