Its definitely a tradeoff…I would test it in trials to confirm though…in trials moondancer uptime averages around 50 and you HAVE to synergize….with this set you can just do your rotation without interruption.

We saw the same when we did that ‘raid testing’ on the new 52M dummy. Our magplar, (myself) experienced about a 5 to 8k dps losswhen putting on master. In that scenario, it turned into a substantial dps lossfor the magplar with a fairly negligible increase on the others that may or may nor receive the buff.

I haven’t dug too deep into the math behind it, simply because it was looking so poor at the first few passes, but assuming no funny zos math, magplars (with RO and sweeps) are, themselves, the least to benefit from the slayer proc. Since their spammable and execute both get hit with the damage done calculation, my bet, that opposed to the 20 (minor and major) people think they get, its probably closer to 15ish when major is up and 3ish when its not.

In light of the damage done calculation issues w/ magplars main sources of damage (Sweeps/RO) and the fact that we’re only geting 2-3% on those skills, I have seen people considering the 3 WP / 2 Torungs combination instead of the MD setup in a few threads around… would that even be a consideration despite losing the 5MD procs? An interesting idea, but I’m not sure if the raw SP would outweigh the full MD set.

I don’t believe so.  The damage done stuff has always been there since the introduction of minor slayer, so, if 3 willpower + 2 torug was better than 5 moondancer, it would have been better this whole time.  Nothing in Morrowind changed that or the way the math works.

There was a bug(?possibly intended?) introduced with Morrowind that affected the damage done calculations on %-based executes and abilities… I am on console so it’s hard for me to thoroughly test, but I’ve seen a lot of mention of it and definitely have noticed some drop in the damage calculations of those skills…

    Thread I am referencing:

    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/349328/how-morrowind-broke-impale-and-likely-other-skills-numbers-included

Again I’m not positive on this, but I can say I noticed a huge drop in numbers overall… it probably still doesn’t matter for the WP/torungs setup, but just for context.

I understand that CP and the way its benefits are applied changed and that further diminished minor slayer on scaling skills.

I should have been more clear in my previous post.  The diminishing of slayer has always existed on a magplar as the damage done bonus has always been affected by the 140% on closest target and the scaling on execute (thus never really getting 5% damage done).

My last statement about noth8ng changing in Morrowind was pointed at slayer and where it applies.  Sorry for the confusion

DSGNjunkie, my build rotation can be seen in this DPS test–where I hit 38k with someone else providing ele drain and MD procs. In ‘about’ section of the video is a link to a written guide with the exact rotation. I do use lightning staff / dual wield combo to answer your question. I have hit as high as 39.5k but I did not upload that yet, however thats more about RNG giving me spell damage procs all the time and less about some magic build or rotation. Hope this helps!

Thanks man I will definitely look into this! Couple questions:

    • For single target, wouldn’t it be more effect to have 2-3 sweeps instead of dropping ritual of ret?
    • In a trial setting, do you still use trap? I find myself never having enough stamina to drop it when in vHoF because of all of the mechanics you must avoid, what have you found?

And yeah, I’ve been trying to parse with inferno wall instead because our healers run lightning walls… hence the much lower numbers. Nonetheless thanks for the input!

Actually the 140% never affected it as it used to be worded as damage taken. Damage taken is multiplicative with damage received, but now the wording has changes so we would need to test thoroughly.

Yea, for single target an extra sweeps would be better and I have done rotations as such, this particular rotation wasn’t intended to be the highest possible score it was more me practicing a trial rotation where things like purify or the extra heal had value. As for trap, i don’t generally have much of a problem with trap or dying because I’m too low on stamina to block etc. I’m preemptively always moving around even if theres nothing red on me (unless for a mechanic i need to stay still) but this means by the time anything red appears under me I’m usually half way out already. Some people do complain of this, saying they run out of stamina etc but for me personally its never been an issue so I am unsure. As for lightning wall, if you can sustain with a fire staff it will do more damage overall for that very reason but I find the lightning helps with the sustain and minimizes dps loss when including a heavy attack as part of the rotation as I have done here. If I were using a fire staff and did sweeps I’m fairly certain I could break 40k if i could figure out the sustain in a trial environment as they represent damage losses on the target dummy.

I was away for the 4th holiday and am just getting back into the game today.  I checked on my platform (PS4) and the 140% damage on sweeps still indicates damage taken not damage done.  Are you saying the tooltip on PC is different than on console?

Someone mentioned that the wording has changed, if it hasnt then its definitely multiplicative.
