    Bosmer Nightblade

    Hello All!!!

With One Tamriel active I’ve noticed that bosses are much tougher than they once were. Because of this I’ve decided to grind some drop set gear that will make my life a little easier. I am level 41 Nightblade and want to run 4x Piece of the Veiled Heritance Set and 5x of the Ranger’s Gait set. The Veiled Heritance Set provides Physical Resistance, Wpn Dmg, and Wpn Crit bonuses. I have 3 pieces of the jewelry and am looking to add a weapon to get the wpn crit bonus. I farmed a world boss for 2 hours last night and couldn’t get a weapon to drop. Is this typical or am i farming in the wrong place? All i seemed to get was Elegant pieces and no weapons. Does each world boss drop primarily a specific set or did I just get unlucky?

    Thanks,

Have you tried farming Dolmens?  I don’t hang around the actual site, there’s usually something to mess around with nearby within a fast run of the site.  Hit as many with multitarget attacks as possible, a Helicopter build seems to work the best, I usually run through with Refreshing Path, Silver Shards, Shield Charge, Deep Slash, bar swap to Blade Cloak and Whirlwind.  The more you hit (Before someone else kils them) the more drops you get, so try to hit everyone.  World bosses don’t respawn fast enough, and really only give 1 drop chance.  You’re better off farming a bunch of Daedra.  Also, if you run the Heritance Quest line, you can get a few from there, but you’re more likely to get Armor pieces.  At least it’s not like Witchman’s, which only seems to drop 2H weapons, and usually axes at that.  At least there’s plenty of Minotaur Shamans to hit on a good farming circuit.  I haven’t worked out a good one for Auridon, the shape of the peninsula and all the mountains in the way make it difficult.

Which world boss?  You tend to have better luck farther north.

Everything above is likely Opinion, and/or subject to change.

I mostly play ”Gofasta” Orcish berserkers in Red armor.  (Alluding to WH40K.)

Getting set weapon drops is unusual. It’s probably not worth the trouble to farm them until you’ve hit CP 160.

Dolmens drop set jewelry, every time, but only set jewelry.

In general, I’ve found the original patch notes pretty reliable as to what drops where.

But frankly, what’s the big deal about gear while you’re leveling? You’re only going to outgrow within hours of play time anyway. Any reasonable set is better than what players had last month and before when they were first leveling.

The only way it’s really important to imitate endgame gear is food. Perfect for you is Level 40 blue health/stamina food. Purple food, or blue food from a slightly lower level, should be find. If you can’t find it in the guild stores, ask zone chat and you can probably get some fast.

Shornhelm/Rivenspire might be a good place to ask, because it’s a crafting area, and there are cooking fires everywhere.

I found a Decent weapon in Toothmaul Gulley. And set pieces are dropping a lot more frequently then they used to.

I agree with you about the food. I think it will be a big help. I still feel the armor set will help as well and its another way to help level up.

Whats happening in my case is that I am no longer outleveling the bosses in the main story line. If it were just a boss fight I wouldnt have much trouble. But this one particular area I have to take out 3 captains. Each with two support characters around them. The boss hits me with a trap attack and an arrow spray for 10000+ dmg and the sorc and two hander finish me off. I only have 16000 HP. Its a tough fight. Im a stam nightblade so I dont have a lot of healing spells I can use to regen health. By going with these 2 sets Vieled Heritance and the Rangers Gait I Get bonus to physical resistance weapon crit, weapon dmg, stam regen, max stam, and res to snare attacks. Then i can use the food for bonus to health and healthy regen to hopefully finish him off

I dont by any means feel like these will be my final armor set. I already have my sets planned out. This is just to get me by until I hit 50.

    Food is huge for anybody.

Stamina nightblades do have one big self-heal — Reaper’s Mark. It’s not nearly as easy to use as a heal as a straight heal is, but it does help quite a bit.

Anyhow, I’m not the best judge. When I leveled a stamina nightblade I already had a lot of champion points and a full set of crafters, so I had it much easier than a new player would.

Nice, Yeah my stamblade is my primary so it’s a little difficult. And I havent earned the reapers mark skill yet. Almost there. My mark target is at 3. So hope that helps a bit.

Some ideas that might or might not apply to your particular case:

    • It would be nice not to eat the big arrow spray, even if you have to roll dodge or break free at major stamina cost. The Heavy Armor active skill Immovable might help too. Or a potion one of whose benefits is Immovability.
    • The Siphoning ultimate skill gives a strong heal.
    • You could test whether the bosses are too bossy for Agony.
    • Both the Mage’s Guild and Fighter’s Guild have traps you can pre-cast. The Fighter’s Guild one is better for stamina characters, naturally. But you might not yet have high enough rank for either.
    • I prefer Bombard over Arrow Spray for the better root. That plus Endless Hail gives a nice advantage at the start of a fight.
    • I like to initiate fights with a heavy bow attack from crouch.

I was thinking health/stamina food instead.

What morphs are you using? Bloodthirst and Blood Craze combined is a crazy amount of sustain, you dont need the higher DPS morphs for world bosses (heck, you’ll probably gain DPS since you dont have to back off to recover).

    Good points!

Or, if it’s 2H, Brawler is a big help in survival.

    Bar 1 – Dual Wield

    Blood Craze

    Killers Blade

    Whirling Blades

    Ambush

    Mark Target

    Bar 2 – Bow

    Poison Injection

    Acid Spray

    Arrow Barrage

    Swallow Soul

    Mirage

Also remember Im only level 42 so my physical resistance is very low. So im fairly squishy.

Having a shadow skill for the Shadow Barrier passive will help a lot with your resistances, I’d go for Surprise Attack since it also apply Major Fracture. Mark is in my opinion sorta overkill since you already got burst heal on kill from Killer’s Blade and Surprise Attack would be a better way to apply Major Fracture, since not only do it indirectly give you resists it also actually do damage.

I’d unmorph Whirlwind to Steel Tornado, the AoE becomes absolutely massive even if it means you’re going to unmorph a million skills, the AoE of it is truely redic and you want it eventually so you might as well start leveling it right away. Not really a huge fan of Volley without some-one/thing to hold stuff in place, you could morph Spray to Bombard. Personally, I’d drop it all together to either move Killer’s Blade here so you can have Bloodthirst on your DW bar or slot Siphoning Attacks if stamina is an issue (Siphoning Attacks would singlehandedly solve this).

Off the top of my head I’d try for something like:
    DW:
    Blood Craze
    Bloodthirst
    Surprise Attack
    Steel Tornado
    Ambush
    Lacerate (any morph)

    Bow:
    Poison Injection
    Acid Spray
    Killer’s Blade
    Mirage
    Siphoning Attacks
    Veil of Blades

Basically turn the bow bar into a utility bar and let your DW bar be a pure “I murder death kill everything!” bar. The life stealing morphs on DW combined with Siphoning Attacks should offer a ton of sustain. It’d probably be optimal to drop Ambush all together and move Killer’s Blade here and have Volley back at bow bar, but lets be honest we all love jumping around with Ambush. ;)

Not really sure where to slot it, but you could consider Sap Essence as a way to gain Major Brutality and a magicka based heal for those moments.

Sounds good. I have one problem. Im only level 42 and haven’t acquired some of those skills yet (Lacerate). I totally agree with the Whirlwind. I went that rout for the stam regen but my armor will give me enough of that soon enough. And I can always move Ambush to the bow bar.

Perform a mirage, arrow barrage, Ambush, and bombard then hit the dw bar and kite the edge of the barrage ring and when they get close execute with my siphoning attacks

Doesnt sound like a bad way to go. Have to respec a lot of my skills but if it helps take them down faster.

Like I said. I can handle a boss one for one. Its his support crew that always takes me out. Sorcs especially. They tear me up.

Hmm. If his minions can be hard CCed you could try Mass Hysteria to give you a bit of breathing room and debuff their damage with it’s Minor Maim.

Do he have multiple sorcerer buddies? If he only got one something you could try, not really sure if it’d work but could be a fun tactic, would be to use Death Stroke (any morph, I prefer Soul Harvest for PvE) and see if you can just straight up kill the sorcerer before he can do anything.

That worked Perfectly. I’m running 4 pieces of Vieled Heritance and had 3 piece Rangers Gait. Adjusted the skills the way we talked about. Stomped those captain bosses without using food. Thanks for the advice.

Great to hear! Did you end up going for the CC or burst kill option, or something third? :)

I basically did it just as i said.

Arrow Barrage, Ambush, then Bombard. That did some major damage. Then stayed at the edge of the AoE and hit Steel Tornado to drop the mage and left the two hander with quarter life left with boss sitting at 2/3. I hit the two hander with my surprise attack and killers blow to replenish my health. Then i hit the boss with another Bombard and moved in with Surprise Attack, Blood Craze, and Blood Thirst until he was dead.

Mowed down the second guy the same way. It was great.

I think at most I got down to half health or just below.

    Awesome. :)

I love farming the world boss pieces the hard way instead of just joining a zerg doing a dolmen->boss cycle over and over. There’s a certain sense of accomplishment when you manage to do it on your own or with just a few others. Ironically I’m in the process of trying to get Elegance for my new sorcerer (I’m too stubborn to just power level her to 50 and then fix gear too, last char slot to reach 50 so might do it the fun way) and I pretty much only find Veiled pieces and when an Elegance piece drops it’s always chest (where I want a crafted heavy piece, for Fashion Scrolls Online). Grr.

Farm the Shipwreck world boss in Auridon. He dropped so much Elegance gear for me it was ridiculous.
