Spider bossHi everyone, we’re excited to release the next installment in our video series here on Tamriel Foundry of guides showcasing endgame PvE challenges, encounters, and mechanics. These videos will tackle a variety of PvE challenges including Veteran Dungeons, Adventure Zones, and Trials. These videos are designed to be instructional examples of how to successfully navigate encounters by carefully explaining mechanics and providing visual evidence of how to execute strategies designed to cope with them.

Spindleclutch is the second in our series of Veteran Dungeon video guides. Your return to Spindleclutch for Veteran mode will involve confronting the dark vampire coven which has transformed the cavern into it’s lair, eventually bringing to justice their dread patriarch, Vorenor Winterbourne.

    Very nice guide.

Now all that remains is the notorious Fungal Grotto, which I’ve heard is the most difficult/ confusing due to a certain boss’ mechanics. Can’t wait for that one!

    Also…. First!

I half did this today tanking a PuG that ranged from VR1-3. I say half did it because while we got all the way through and defeated the final boss, completed the quest etc. We did so by sneaking past the gargoyle boss (you can do so by hugging the left hand wall) as we couldn’t dps him down after several attempts.

Is there a dps figure you need to be putting out to defeat him?

Simple maths says that you need to achieve 825dps as a group to kill a 99k hp boss in 120 seconds (the soft enrage timer). I assume its more complicated than that.

Let’s say I run it again as a DPS. My spec would be as a Dual-Wield Mortal (as opposed to Vamp or WW) Nightblade. Is there a minimum figure I should be reaching? Any tips on achieving that figure?

We have members ranging from 400 DPS to upwards of 700 DPS – I would say around 400ish DPS would be ideal for that boss from both DPS – the tank will cover a bit of the DPS requirement – a good healer should be able to do upwards of 200 DPS as well to pad the dmg a bit as well.

400 DPS should be very obtainable from just about any decent spec/class on that boss.

In that case I could use some build advice as on that boss I have a tough time getting past 300dps. This is running Dual-Wield Mortal Nightblade using mostly physical damage from Dual Wield skills and using crafted VR2 Torug’s Pact 4 Heavy, 1 Medium with 1 Heavy and 1 Medium random VR1 drops. All blues, all Stamina enchants except 1 Health. Weapons are 2 blue VR2 drops.

What are recommended skills? Rapid Strikes? Would you risk using something like Reaper’s Mark? Is Power Extraction worth it on a single target? Help! ;)

Great video guys. I really appreciate the content you put out in general. I look for new information here daily. If you have the time, I do have one question. I just hit V1 and am looking to DPS in Veteran Banished Cells, Spindleclutch etc.

I saw that your Atropos’s Reaver build has been updated and attribute allocation is now taking into account the use of Health Glyphs. If you had to say, what Health Pool would you be trying to get to for this content as a V1 DPS and more specifically a Light Armor Sorcerer? I am trying to decide my attribute distribution and enchanting. I initially thought getting magicka to overcharged would be top priority and then dumping the rest into health would be second. Doing this would leave me at around 1300-1400 HP. I see both Erlexx and Atropos had around 1900-2000 HP for the BC run but I believe you were higher than V1. I would only be able to achieve a health pool size that high by making a significant commitment to health that would most likely leave me under the Magicka overcharged soft cap.

Anyway, I am sure you both have come to a conclusion on this topic for your own class, resource, and armor combinations. Even if you do not have an opinion on my Sorcerer/Light Armor situation, if you could share your own thought process I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

With 49 points into Health and a +250 HP (or higher) food, you should be nearing the 1.9k HP mark. VR2-4 enchants are 99 HP as well for white quality. In Erlexx’s “MagePlar” build, he goes 49 Health, then takes Mage (the +Magicka pool, not regen) mundus stone and has all crafted +Divines gear as well as enchants all +Magicka. If you reach soft cap on Magicka/Regen, change enchants to Health with Infusion trait. I assume Sorcs would operate similarly to Templars in that regard. He also mentioned he doesn’t use dropped sets at all, but does use the Warlock 3pc jewlery for regen.
