I want the collector’s edition as well. Perhaps the beginnings of a cash shop, perhaps not. Who cares? As long as a game is never P2W I’m fine with it. Bring on the hate!

I can not wait for my collector’s edition!!!

I disagree with most of what you said about the faction-locks.  Or to replay the broken record I was on back when I was here regularly:  “it worked out fine in Eve.” But that’s beside the point.

What concerns me is that Firor (and most of the dev team) seemed to believe as you did, and they’ve made no noises that I’ve seen about actually changing their minds on that.  This gives the idea – whether true or not – that he’s willing to risk the quality of the game for a few extra pre-order sales.  And that’s not a good thing.

”Niche” is not a four-letter word.  ”Mainstream” should be.

I’d be happy if they made it so imperials were the only race that could play in other alliances and if they were unlockable ingame via some sort of story line.

I’m also going to pre order the collectors too i just think my above solution would even the ground across the map for all of those that are unhappy.

They just need to get rid of the any race any faction then most of the hate will cease.

I love how Soma goes on rants and Deagen just coolly sits back and corrects the mistakes Soma makes from being so heated.  Deagen the voice of reason.  Entertaining Vodcast for sure.

They did just release an unboxing video that shows the Imperial race in game.  Soma should like that.

It’s not life and death to get the Collector’s Edition. Though I would love to play as an Imperial and the Rings of Mara would be a nice thing to have, I’m not getting it. I don’t like what they are doing with this, I just quit a game that has done stuff like this and I don’t want to see it happen to this game. So I’m not supporting this.

I think that Zenimax made a good choice to make the Imperial race exclusive to the CE. Its something that gives a lot of value to the CE, not just pets and cool looking armour. I hope that they include the choice to be an Imperial later in a patch, either as an unlock for completing the 50+/++ content, or just adding it for free after like a year. I’ll be buying the CE not only for the bonuses, but to support the game. As long as the Imperials become a free race for everyone later on, I think its fine.

    Who cares?

I do. And probably everybody else who passionately followed development. People need to grow some balls and resist the illustrious temptation of  the “EXCLUSIVE UNIQUE MONEY FOR NOTHING”.

I’m still gonna play the game. Hell no I’m not gonna buy that Imperial shit no matter how bad i wanna play as an Imperial.

And by the way, it’s not about how much more money it costs, it’s about it costing EXTRA money. It’s a matter of principle.

Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I hate what they did, its like theyre pushing you into a corner where you want to get the imperial edition because you can level up faster and its gong to screw the entire story line up:(

Also BTW, none of the three characters are leaders/kings/queens. I would expect to see them again in game though as villains/guild leaders. The AD leader does look a lot like Queen Ayrenn though.

If you want Imperial stuff crafted ask around after launch, another social opportunity to trade.

fully embrace yesterdays news, and I am excited about playing the game.

The Imperial is fluff, and honestly it is nice to have a CE that gives me something awesome and worthwhile for once: See Swtor

I need you to acknowledge as well with your comment that this well affect gameplay. Really? No. The Imperial gear is Cosmetic. The Ability to craft it. Cosmetic. The racials? YOU JUST ACKNOWLEDGED in the cast that the racials won’t matter end game. Which they won’t. Finally, if this was a cash grab why is the CE 50 cheaper than every other CE I’ve purchased. This is a great bonus for those of us who just want to be special. It really seems like you are raging to rage.

The fact of the matter remains that in every Elder Scrolls game you’ve had the freedom of choice. This continues that tradtion In addition, just because you are one race doesn’t mean you follow your country/province blindly. There are races of all kinds and creeds living in each province. Altmer in Skyrim and Nords in Cyrodiil. For example, I was born white and middle-class but that doesn’t mean I blindly follow everything my own country says. Is this metaphor shaky? Yes, because we don’t have cat people or Lizard men but it still gets my point across. Not only that each faction is likely to have refugees from each of the war torn provinces. This isn’t lore tearing, if anything it enhances it.

Most people identify with a particular faction and not just its races. I enjoy EB not just because of Nords but also because they just want to deal with the Daedra threat and aren’t in it for World Domination (AD) or Money (DC)

Just because you are born a Dumner doesn’t mean you follow the Tribunal, a Nord the high-king, or an Imperial the Emperor. The races exists all across Tamriel. Not locked in their provinces.

Honestly, I don’t know why they didn’t do this. I would be perfectly fine with everything if they just let the Imperials choose their faction.

@Soma Also, I doubt you’ll read my previous posts on this thread but I hope you do.

Don’t presume that I don’t care because I’m perfectly happy with the box and goodies. Don’t presume that I haven’t followed the development process from day 1 because I have and guess what? Couldn’t be more excited. Acting that way does you a disservice and you really need to step back and not make not only a broad sweeping generalization of those who disagree with you but also not attack your viewership in such a manner.

I’m a die hard TES fan and I’m happy with my Imperial Edition purchase.

Racially locked factions announced two years ago

“That’s not Elder Scrolls!” “My character should be wherever he wants!” “Zenimax doesn’t know the lore!”

Free pre-order bonus of unlocking the races for every faction

“Zenimax lied to us! They’re stealing our money!” “Why would they break their own lore like this?” “Factions won’t make any sense now!”
