After Dark: Ep. 4 — Coldharbour Awaits!

Welcome to the 4th episode of After Dark, a late night Elder Scrolls Online podcast with mature humor. After Dark is hosted by myself (Blade), but I’ve also got my two trusty sidekicks Felord and Felyx. This week we’ve recently decided to change the way we’re going to do podcasts. Instead of having one 30 minute cast, we’re going to be recording 12 minute episodes twice a week.

This week we’re going over the Coldharbour video Zenimax released, as well as ZAM’s Q&A with Mat Firor. If you enjoy our podcast, be sure to like, comment, and subscribe!

Great Cast guys, I agree with the guild thing, that it makes guild loyalty  less important if you can join as many as you want, I am a one guild man to be honest.

I guess Molag Bal only likes male souls?

Thing with crafting is players who will get business are the ones who re-engineer the food(if possible) gear and potions they loot either off some corpse or quest reward or made to learn to make more variations in those profs, more than how SWTOR does.  When I played SWTOR I try to at least every 5-6-10 lvls is make rare or try for epic gear.  Sure its costly at times if my higher lvl alts don’t have the mats and I would have to spend time with archaeology or treasure hunting hoping that I’ll get some epic crafting material in a large amount of maybe 4-10 rather than just 2.  For Cold Harbour I’d like to at least fight a lot of vampires and maybe encounter Mannimarco.  Truthfully I’m not big on guilds since FFXI for Dynamis and Sky.  Playing WOW I’ve been in a few but then it just gets boring.  Nobody around to do like 3-OS for a mount or Ruby Sanctum for another etc.  If I really can overpower a heroic raid then I’ll try it but well for someone like me who sucks at trying BWL’s first boss I don’t even attempt it.  If I get bored in a guild then I just leave I’m more of a lone wolf anyways.  Just 1 less way of being pissed off.  I’m just like wanting ppl to help me do things but don’t ask and not wanting to help others just because I don’t care.  If I can’t solo something then I either come back at a way higher lvl or don’t even bother at all to try again and just move on.

    Death is the ultimate fairness!

If I’m a douchebag well at least I’m scoring!

Great video guys!!! :) so when you mentioned you could go to an armorer and enhance you armor i think it might be like in Oblivion when your armor could be repaired with a hammer or just the armorer.

    once again great video!!! :)

In order to combat the dilution of the epic “you’re the hero saving the world” feel Felord mentioned, maybe they’ll make Coldharbor a solo-only zone until you’ve beaten the main quest, and then you can go back for big raids. They used a similar system in Defiance.

Agreed. It would seem somewhat of a waste not to take advantage of this amazing zone, and in doing so creates great potential for one of the best possible raid(s) imaginable imo. You’ve got the ultimate boss to kill: Molag Bal, a terrifying and mystical setting, and since the theme is daedra there should be plenty of interesting bosses to fight, a huge area that should have the potential to have several raids with the main one having to do with the destruction of infamous Molag Bal (with several bosses that work directly with him). Really, I believe the magnitude of this raid would be similar to ICC in WoW, and would last for a long time if they took advantage of everything to the fullest.

i too am deeply worried about the Multi Guild system. it can only lead to guild hopping and a lack of guild loyalty. chaotic might be another word for it. im sure this will have little effect on the more hardcore guilds that all eletists aspire to get into but you have to believe that any guild below that, even successful ones, will see alot of guild hopping and abuse. i have supported alost all of the current aspects of the game, evne the umpopular ones, in large part due to the fact tha ti understand the need for balance in an MMO, but this one just seems to be far to easily abused and will encourage a great deal of misuse. if they implement this i would seriously beg Zenimax to limit the number of guilds one can participate in to 2. this way choices must be made carefully. being in 3 or 4 guilds is just silly, and completely goes agasint the whole concept of what a GUILD is and what its about.

Great Cast!  I’m digging the shorter video, makes it easier to find time to listen to it.  Keep it up.

    @zavenyast @m-aIq – That would make for a great raiding/adventure zone indeed.

I could see the need to unlock the main quest line up to a certain point before you get access here for high end raids.  That would promote doing the main quest line along with group PvE.  I don’t know if there would be the ability to “kill” Molag Bal since we know he is “alive” in later eras, but maybe I way to banish him after he is beaten down profusely.  That would work as en epic ending to see him sucked into a vortex, or finding a way to chain him down in his own domain, watching many of the souls in cold harbor exact their revenge on him.  Who knows.

I hope there’s a satisfying ending, even if it’s a bit questionable lore-wise, since one of the main themes when dealing with Daedra (and the Princes especially) is how insignificant mortals are.

Like the new format as it makes it easier to listen to in one chunk. I do agree with the economy sentiments and the crafting questions raised. Is crafting going to be truly independent on its own or will one still have to do raids or large group pvp to get mats. Materials are definitely one concern but also time willingly spent is just as an important of a factor (separate the wheat from the chaff). Many things can make crafting vigorously challenging it’s just that WoW and its clones chose materials acquisition as their tool to create challenge.

journey to coldhaurbor has been my favorite trailer yet released.

as far as the multiple “soulless ones” in the prophesy, isn’t the entire main quest going to be instanced for single player? that is what i thought zenimax said. if so, it is true to TES and there is no immersion braking because who ever does the main quest does in fact save tamriel themselves.

Even with your imaginary god you don’t stand a chance.
