The Rubicon #2 – The Secret Ingredient

Welcome to The Rubicon, Episode #2 “The Secret Ingredient”.  This week, Fizzle and Byronyk discuss the major topics of the week including an interview with Matt Firor, the ESO food truck, and general thoughts on the combat system in terms of an action vs. hard-lock system. We also answer Rubicon email, but we still want more so send us your questions to [email protected]

As a side note, Fizzle was sick this week with a case of the West Nile Virus, however he is recovering. Likewise, our original hard drive the podcast was recorded on fried, but Fizzle finally put his computer engineering degree to use and turned into MacGyver.

Finally finished listening. Good second episode. I feel compelled to chime in on a couple points.

    1. No Septims in ESO because of the time period of the game (Tiber Septim not yet born).
    2. Trinity system is confirmed, since they have explicitly mentioned tanks, dps, and healers, as well as the need for players to step up and claim a specific role within dungeon groups.
    3. Abilities don’t have cooldowns, you have to manage your ability usage carefully, or else you will exhaust your available Stamina/Magicka reserves and be left unable to react to combat.
    4. Player/NPC collision does seem to be in the game based on some video evidence that we have seen.
    5. Opposing alliances cannot talk to each other. Emotes are definitely in the game, and opposing alliances can see any emotes that you use, this is really the only way you have to communicate with enemies.
    6. I’m pretty certain the “starve the enemy out” mechanic was purely fan speculation, and not an officially confirmed game mechanism.

@Atropos – You know, that reminds me of something I’ve been wondering about that you may remember (though it would be subject to change, anyway).

How was passive stamina/magicka regen?  Were they both pretty slow, or was stamina more akin to an energy bar in other MMOs with magicka still functioning as mana typically does?

very strange decision. Cyrodiilic is official language for Tamriel since the end of 1st Era. could you specify source of this statement? i’m not sure i’ve seen it before
