Great discussion.  I am really interested to see how the finesse system works, seeing who gets more love on the damage dealing vs healing aspect of the game.

I also found the topic on synergy really interesting, and am really curious to see how it works with all kinds of spells.  We have heard the mage/warrior combos, and the one you guys discussed to help with “agro” was really interesting.  I do wonder how stealth focused chars will get to be involved with synergy outside of things like traps.

As for crafting, I really hope we get more info on it soon.   At least what the types are!

Nice job on finding the blood that has been squeezed out of the ZO turnip. I do hope that crafting is closer to SWG or DAoC and definitely not in any way like the utility of crafted gear in WoW.  Crafting should be the 3rd leg of a 3 legged stool; shortchange it and the game tumbles.

Speaking of crafting…I’m out of ingredients for Fortify Enchanting & Smithing Potions!

If it’s one thing I’m wondering, it’s if there will be alchemical & enchantment effects that increase the effectiveness of your crafting skills just for the purpose of crafting even better items than you normally could.

I think crafting should be like it was in Skyrim, and make enchanting like Oblivion, this makes doing all your stuff yourself alot easyer, but this is just me.

@garlasmalatar I really doubt they will let players abuse the fortify pots like you can in skyrim.  Would make raid drops pointless.

but part of the point of crafting is to sell your wares to others and or get each other to craft items for you. Sure some of the work is meant to be done solo but it’s supposed to be more social interaction. Sadly most MMOs shy away from this.

I thought the point of crafting was a gold sink you force people to participate in to be competitive by giving profession-specific buffs, thus making them spend more time and money in the game.

@schnoffle You could argue that raid drops are pointless anyway…because as Paul Sage had said during an interview, you’ll actually be able to craft items that are just as powerful (or even more powerful) than items earned from raids, assuming you’ve trained the required crafting skill enough.

Of course, with or without the exploitation method…it seems raiding will not have a role of greater importance than crafting, but equal to it (pretty much past Elder Scrolls games, anyway).

Ya, I take it as both are highly important.  I just can’t see them having exploitable” buffs for trade skills

@aillorian They can’t make it too easy to be able to craft everything from all trades yourself.  If so, you completely lose the in game economy that is usually important to an MMO.
